KU Sejong Edge Cloud Data Security Research Center Signs NDA with National Rehabilitation Center
On July 11, the Edge Cloud Data Security Research Center of Korea University Sejong Campus signed a confidential agreement with the National Rehabilitation Center for the analysis of rehabilitation exercise data protected for privacy.
This agreement allows both institutions to cooperate on maintaining the confidentiality of all information, including technological capabilities, assets, and personal information protection, based on mutual respect and trust. Specifically, they plan to collaborate on research related to privacy camera technology that inherently protects privacy and on the analysis of rehabilitation exercises through video data that eliminates privacy violations.
The privacy camera technology, which is currently under development with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), generates video directly from the camera with privacy infringement elements removed. This method differs from traditional methods that protect privacy after video creation.
Attendees at the event included Kim Heeseok, Director of Sejong Research & Business Foundation; Choi Duho, Director of the Edge Cloud Data Security Research Center; Han Miran, Professor from the department of AI Cyber Security; and Professor Lee Sangman, From the National Rehabilitation Center, Kim Jeonghwan, Manager of Rehabilitation Exercises, Administrator Kim Hongyeop, Researcher Lee Hyunjong, and Officer Shin Junpil were present.
Director Kim Heeseok stated, "This will be a good opportunity to demonstrate whether the leading technology being developed at the center can be effectively applied in real situations." Additionally, Kim Jeonghwan from the Rehabilitation Exercises at the National Rehabilitation Center stated, "We hope this collaboration between the two institutions will serve as a model for enhancing research synergy between academia and government, and in the future, we hope it will enable the provision of effective personalized rehabilitation exercises and sports programs using disability exercise analysis data protected for personal information."
