Strategic Preparation of the ICC Ecosystem for the ‘Regional Innovation System & Education(RISE)’
From August 26 to 27, the LINC 3.0 Foundation of Korea University Sejong Campus, under the ICC Comprehensive Center, held the '2024 Summer Forum for Local-Industry-University-Research Cooperation', which is part of the Collaborative-Based ICC Council. The event took place at Courtyard Sejong and was co-hosted by Woosong University Industry-University-Research Comprehensive Enterprise Support Center.
Approximately 40 participants, including directors, practitioners, and stakeholders from 10 universities nationwide affiliated with the ICC Council, attended the forum. Participating universities included Korea University Sejong Campus, Mokpo National Maritime University, Mokwon University, Woosong University, Incheon National University, Kongju National University, Silla University, Dongguk University WISE Campus, Sookmyung Women’s University, and Uiduk University. The forum's objective was to establish strategies for linking Local-Industry-University-Research cooperation in preparation for the 'Regional Innovation System & Education(RISE)' set to launch in 2026, and to strengthen mutual cooperation among ICCs.
On the first day, the event commenced with a welcoming address by Professor Yoo Jaehyun, followed by a congratulatory speech from Professor Byun Hyunjin. Subsequently, a series of expert lectures were delivered. Yoon Seokmoo, Director of Sejong Technopark, presented the implementation plan for the Sejong RISE project, while Seo Youngho, CEO of NAWA, shared insights on how a local startup expanded globally. Additionally, Kang Kihoon, Director of the Youth Hope Factory, introduced a collaborative project focused on resolving regional issues through sustainable partnerships. The session also featured a discussion on sharing best practices from various universities and exploring strategies to enhance cooperation among specialized ICC platforms across different institutions.
On the second day, participants delved into the operational plans for the third year of the LINC 3.0 project, with a focus on preparing for the RISE system. They discussed strategies to invigorate the ICC cooperation platform and key initiatives for joint programs in the third year. Furthermore, they established collaborative strategies to efficiently transition to the RISE framework.
Director Yoo Jaehyun stated, “This forum was designed to support the advancement of project outcomes for each university and to establish a cooperation strategy among ICCs in preparation for the RISE system transition. Moving forward, we plan to continuously promote joint projects for each region and specialized ICC, and support Local-Industry-University-Research cooperation activities by fully utilizing the strengths of collaborative-based ICC universities nationwide.”
