The three ideologies specified during Korea University’s 50th anniversary in 1955 are concentration of the realization of "Libertas - Liberty,” which is the common ideal of all human beings, materialization of "Justitia - Justice" within the society, and passion to explore "Veritas - Truth" in the academic pursuit. This is a permanent value of Korea university that stands for the true intellectuals who act passionately, instead of hiding behind their books of dead knowledge, and makes the people of Korea University follow the spirit.
The courage, determination, alacrity, and dignity of “tiger”—the mysterious totem animal of the Korean nation—correspond to the spirit of Korea University students. In 1963, a stone tiger sculpture was built on the hill east of Anam Campus to express the will of Korea University students to become the nation's artery by cultivating their character, fidelity, and spirit just like the tiger.
Symbolizing high fidelity and integrity, Korean pine conveys the will of Korea University to become a ground where talented individuals leading the nation’s development are nurtured.
