After the Jochiwon branch was established in 1979, until the first student council was launched, representatives were selected under the name of ‘Jochiwon University Presidential Group’.
I participated in the student council of our school as a representative of the Jochiwon branch.
During this time, it was very difficult for students' demands and opinions to be reflected in the student council because there was a government-run 'Student Protection Corps' created during the time of President Chun Doo-hwan to destroy student organizations. As a result, the demands of college students at the time, such as the struggle for democratization, were instead ignored by the same students.
Accordingly, there was a strong demand for the establishment of a self-governing body elected by students through direct voting, and in the mid- to late 1980s, there was an active movement to build a student council in college towns across the country. After the June 1987 uprising, elections were held separately from Anam Campus in 1988 for the first time. Previously, it was a student council that was not separate from Anam Campus. After a separate election, Seochang Campus had its own student council.
After this period, the Student Council began full-scale activities for the development of Seochang Campus and students. In 2006, the name was changed from Seochang to Sejong, and the Sejong Campus Student Council continues to this day.
The Student Council has continued to play a role in resolving various problems in the university community by representing the students' positions to the school, society, and government in the most effective and reasonable manner in accordance with the ideology of freedom, justice, and truth.

To put it simply, the Student Council is the eyes, mouth, ears, and hands and feet of 6,000 students. The body is also comprised of 6,000 students. The student council is a place that pays attention to solving even the smallest issues on campus, collects the opinions of Sejong Campus students, announces them to the public, and works with students to resolve them.
It is completely different from the bureaucratic organizations we encounter in society, and as a student council president and student council executive, it does not have a hierarchical relationship with students, but functions as a representative system.
In order for this to be achieved properly, it is not possible for the student council to work hard alone, but active expression of opinions by students and active activities of basic student councils (science student council, small groups, clubs, etc.) are needed.

april (4.18 National Salvation March) |
On April 18, 1960, about 4,000 students at Korea University read a declaration to protest against Syngman Rhee's dictatorial regime, saying, "Let's raise the signal to achieve true democratic ideology," and advanced to the National Assembly building. On their way back to school, they were attacked by gangsters. Some were bleeding and seriously injured. To honor the wishes of these seniors, we start from Korea University on April 18th every year and take a long journey to the April 18th Memorial. |
May (Daedongje, Ipsilenti, Gohongjeon) |
|
July (summer rural activitiesrural) |
Summer farming, called the flower of activity, burns the face black for a long but short period of 14 nights and 15 days. This will be an opportunity to feel the hearts of farmers and sow seeds of new vitality in the hearts of our students, just as farmers sow seeds. |
september (Goyeon National Liberation Festival) |
Our school's high-performance festival is divided into the 2-campus high-performance festival and the sports festival held in Seoul. Three days before the sports festival, a two-cam high school festival is held every year, once at Sejong and once at Yonsei Magee. It is an event that encourages Yonsei, a rivalry that is not typical of ancient times. |
November (College, organization, student council elections) |
An election will be held for the student council presidents who will lead the student council next year. |
