Definition
Students who are enrolled in or on a leave of absence from a university or higher education institution or who have graduated from a university are granted transfer midway
Eligibility (General Transfer)
- Transfer in the Third Year: A person who has completed at least the second year of study at a four-year university, graduated (expected to graduate) from a community college, or recognized as having an equal or higher academic standing
- A person recognized as having qualifications equal to those specified in subparagraphs 1 and 2 under the School Regulations and national statutes, including the Higher Education Act and Enforcement Decree of the Higher Education Act, and University regulations

- Credits transferred must not exceed 17 per semester (18 for colleges (undergraduate) and divisions (departments) that require a minimum of 135 credits or more for graduation)
- Courses recognized for credit transfers shall cannot be retaken
- For general transfer students to the College of Education, credits transferred for major courses will be approved only when a student’s major at KU and at their previous institution are the same
- Credits transferred for general transfer students are recognized up to half of the minimum required credits for the major subjects of first, second, and dual majors, respectively
- Credit transfers are not approved for transfer students with a bachelor’s degree from a previous institution
